Overview
This demonstration project shows how Saad approaches a custom ecommerce platform for a brand that has outgrown a template store. It covers the full path a customer takes — browsing, filtering, product pages, cart and checkout — and everything the shop team needs behind it: products and variants, stock, orders, returns and discounts.
The storefront is multilingual and supports right-to-left Arabic, so the same catalogue can serve customers in several markets. Every screen is designed for phones first, because that is where most store visits happen.
The challenge
Growing shops often run into the limits of hosted store builders: slow category pages, checkout flows they cannot change, fees on every sale and product data scattered across plugins. Adding a second language or a local payment method becomes a workaround rather than a feature, and the team ends up managing orders in spreadsheets next to the store.
The solution
The concept replaces the patchwork with one platform the business owns. Products, variants, prices and stock live in one relational database. Category and search pages are rendered on the server so they load quickly and stay indexable. Checkout is a clear four-step flow with the payment handled by the provider, and the admin gives the team one place for orders, fulfilment status, refunds and low-stock alerts.
Key features
- Product catalogue with variants, images, stock and categories
- Fast faceted search and filtering by price, size, colour and availability
- Customer accounts with order history, addresses and wishlist
- Four-step checkout with cards, iDEAL and wallet payments
- Discount codes, free-shipping thresholds and VAT handling
- Order dashboard with payment and fulfilment status
- Low-stock alerts and inventory per product variant
- Multilingual storefront with right-to-left Arabic support
Who it is for
- Brands moving off a template store that limits growth
- Shops selling in more than one language or country
- Businesses that want to own their store and its data
- Teams that manage orders and stock by hand today
Technical approach
Next.js App Router with React Server Components renders the catalogue; interactive parts such as the cart and filters are small client components. Prisma models products, variants, orders and customers in PostgreSQL. Search runs on Meilisearch and is kept in sync by background jobs; Redis caches hot catalogue queries. Payments use hosted checkout and signed webhooks, so card data never touches the store's server.

Questions about this type of project
Is this a real client store?
No. It is a demonstration project: the screens are high-fidelity mockups with sample products and orders. It shows the structure, features and technical approach Saad uses when building a custom online store.
Which payment methods can a custom store support?
Most providers offer hosted checkout and webhooks — for example Stripe or Mollie for cards, iDEAL and wallets, or a regional gateway. The right choice depends on your country, currency and fees, and it is agreed during the requirements phase.
Can the store work in Arabic and English at the same time?
Yes. Each language gets its own URLs and metadata, and Arabic pages use a genuine right-to-left layout rather than a mirrored copy of the English design.
